Interview and short story printed for the exhibition of artist duo Ella and Cedric Steed at Gallery 4009. The duo was asked to create new works over a two-month period, during which they provided work-in-progress images that were used to highlight specific responses in the interview, visually connecting their evolving work to their ideas. The duo also provided a short story which was included as a loose insert.
Gallery 4009 was a short-lived apartment gallery co-run by Carter Teranes and Emily Swenson as a way to explore the role of graphic design in the curation and presentation of art, specifically within a domestic setting. As designers acting as curators, each of the two exhibitions run made use of supplemental graphic materials in dialogue with the artist’s body of work.
